Precision Coating has purchased a controlling interest of a hydrophilic coating provider focusing on medical device applications, Medi-Solve Coatings.

Precision Coating, which is a subsidiary of Katahdin Industries, said the addition of hydrophilic coating capabilities to its fluoropolymer coatings offerings will help meet growing need of their medical device customers for coating formulation and technical expertise.

Precision Coating president Robert DeAngelis said that they are able to provide their medical device customers a broader range of dry and wet lubricious coating technologies that are critical to the end performance of so many devices.

"Moreover, the experience of the Medi-Solve Coatings team will be extremely valuable as we continue to expand our coating capabilities," DeAngelis said.

Medi-Solve Coatings president Ron Sahatjian said by collaborating with Precision, they will leverage their resources and technology to better serve their current and future customers.

"Being part of the Katahdin family of companies, with access to their technical and customer service resources, is an exciting way to grow our business," Sahatjian said.
