Wound management systems provider PolyRemedy has released clinical study results of its HealSmart Personalized Antimicrobial dressings.

The study, which was conducted at St. James Home Health Services, compared healing rates of 73 chronic wounds treated using HealSmart dressings to 82 chronic wounds using other modalities.

Patients treated with the HealSmart dressings demonstrated better healing rates over a 120 day period including more healed wounds (44% vs. 33%), fewer stalled or deteriorating wounds (18% vs. 28%) as well as increased median wound area reduction (86% vs. 72%).

PolyRemedy president and COO Cameron McKennitt said the results are particularly compelling as the study used no exclusion criteria that could have removed difficult wounds in either cohort.

"In fact, the wounds treated using HealSmart were on average, slightly larger at the start, yet showed more and faster healing," McKennitt added.

In addition to the clinical study, the company has announced the release of its HealSmart 3.0 software system.
