Pioneer Surgical Technology has acquired exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute SpineSmith's Cequence anterior cervical plate.
The agreement was effective 6 October 2010. Under the agreement, Pioneer Surgical manufactures the Cequence system and adds SpineSmith as a distributor to its existing sales network.
Pioneer Surgical CEO Jeff Millin said they are very excited about the opportunity that this product represents to Pioneer and Cequence will play an immediate and strategic role in their efforts to expand their portfolio of spine products, providing greater service to their existing and future customers.
SpineSmith CEO Kevin Dunworth said that the Cequence anterior cervical plate features a simple, strong and reliable screw locking mechanism, multiple screw options and an intuitive set of instruments designed for efficient implantation and also said that this deal is a win for both companies.
“It enables SpineSmith to expand sales of Cequence and accelerate the development of products and in the two years that Cequence has been on the market we have seen a high level of interest and adoption among our surgeon customers. We look forward to Cequence realising its potential,” Dunworth said.
