Philips has installed its Ambient Experience solution and Ingenia Digital MRI system at the Women's & Children's Hospital (WCH) in Adelaide, marking the first installation in Australia.

Ambient Experience incorporates technologies such as sound and projection, lighting, together with design and architecture to build a less stressful environment for patients in the hospital.

The room theme has been set using a touchscreen tablet which provides soothing lights, visuals and sound which fills the room to soothe patients undergoing MRI examinations.

The Philips Ingenia 1.5T digital MRI system not only provides clearer pictures but a comfortable patient experience with lighter and less obtrusive coils.

Women’s and Children’s Hospital Paediatric Imaging unit head Rebecca Linke said it is going to transform the new MRI suite into a more comfortable, less intimidating place by providing a positive distraction for young patients, as well as a more efficient workplace for hospital staff
