PerkinElmer, a provider of technology solutions focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment, has launched L3D, a new solutions platform for low light level detection applications such as clinical diagnostics, life sciences and molecular imaging applications

PerkinElmer has said that its suite of L3D applications solutions contribute to human and environmental health in a range of applications including, confocal microscopy, fluorescence and luminescence, molecular/PET imaging, nucleic acid amplification, particle sizing, and research and scientific instrumentation.

PerkinElmer’s low light level detection solutions leverages its range of photon detection technologies and products including avalanche photodiodes (APDs), single photon counting modules (SPCMs), channel photomultipliers (CPMs), and silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), for demanding clinical diagnostics, molecular imaging and analytical instrumentation needs.

According to the PerkinElmer, the features of the L3D include: new short wavelength-enhanced Si-APD – for low light level detection applications. New large area short wavelength-enhanced Si-APD is intended for use in molecular imaging and fluorescence detection applications. Gigahertz Photon Detection Module (GPDM) is designed for analytical and clinical diagnostic applications under low light level conditions.

Single Photon Counting Modules (SPCMs) deliver Photon Detection Efficiencies (PDE) and low dark noise for confocal microscopy, particle sizing and time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) applications. Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) offers record-setting PDE and short response time. SiPMs offer OEMs a state alternative to traditional PMTs in terms of sensitivity and cost.
