Hoya Group subsidiary Pentax Medical has introduced new Splash M-Knife, a multi-functional ESD device designed for use in early treatment of gastric cancer.

Splash M-Knife is said to achieve clear marking, better hemostasis and smoother and easier operation during a procedure without replacing the knife.

It features disk that will hook up the tissue for improved safety, while metal plate closes the knife for clear marking and better hemostasis.

The knife will also facilitate additional injection without changing the device.

Pentax Medical global product management vice-president Rami Liebenthal said: "We are launching Splash M-Knife, an innovative multifunctional ESD Device to help spreading ESD globally, accerelating early treatment of gastric cancer.

"We are confident that the innovative device for precise, efficient and safer ESD sets a new standard for performing a complete ESD therapy."

The company will showcase the new device at the 89th Annual Meeting of The Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) Congress in Nagoya of Japan, which will be held from 29 to 31 May.

Based in Japan, the company develops and markets endoscopic imaging devices and solutions.
