PeekMed has received the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) approval and is rolling out its web-based automated orthopaedic planning solution.

The company said the new solution is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning technologies and represents an advanced orthopaedic technology.

It is a web-based solution that supports live automatic segmentation of CT scans and X-Rays, automatic landmarks detection, and automatic planning.

The advanced planning solution accurately presents a procedure plan to the orthopaedic surgeons, within 30 seconds, to be approved by them.

PeekMed has created a new technology to solve the challenges of orthopaedic surgeons by increasing efficiency and reducing time for tasks related to the surgery planning process.

PeekMed chairman and CEO João Pedro Ribeiro said: “With this FDA clearance, PeekMed is ready, once again, to be a game-changer in the integration of technology with orthopaedics.

“Having the ability to get a plan in less than 30 seconds is just incredible and a huge achievement for our team.

“We understood the pains of our surgeons, who were waiting hours, or sometimes days, to get a case planned. We aim to solve those challenges!”

The company said that building on its experience in developing orthopaedics solutions, it is already serving more than 3,500 orthopaedic surgeons worldwide.

PeekMed web provides a total overview of the surgery by presenting medical images in a 2D or 3D environment, performing relevant measurements on the images and adding templates.

It maintains all the previous features but with a new, rapid, and more intuitive interface, to easily connect with other orthopaedic solutions in the most used anatomical regions.

Ribeiro added: “We believe American orthopaedic professionals will trust our new product and its development process.

PeekMed is very rigorous with itself because, as a medical device company, patient safety is of utmost importance and a central matter for us. PeekMed is now one step closer to revolutionizing the orthopaedics field!”
