UK - based Oxtexs, a developer of hydrogel self-inflating tissue expanders, has appointed Nicholas Edwards as new Chairman.

He served as a leader in Accenture’s Pharmaceutical R&D business and spent eighteen years in the organization.

Edwards was a Chairman of MedInnovate, and Kinapse, and is an investor and supporter of several life science startups.

Oxtexs devices aids surgeons to predict and control the direction, the timing, and rate of in vivo expansion which reduces the risk of soft tissue damage and associated complications, with better results.

Oxtexs chairman Nicholas Edwards said this technology has potential for widespread clinical use in some of the most complex and demanding surgical operations.

The company is establishing a clean-room manufacturing facilities to increase production, and is in the process of initiating clinical trials.
