Oticon has launched a new hearing aid called Oticon Intent which incorporates user-intent sensors that recognise and adjust to what people desire to hear.
Claimed to be the first of its kind in the world, the hearing aid is designed to provide improved engagement to individuals with hearing loss in difficult listening settings.
Using 4D Sensor technology, Oticon Intent combines insights on head motion, body movement, conversation activity, and acoustic environment to accurately grasp what users need and desire to listen to.
After that, the device seamlessly modifies its hearing assistance to offer a more responsive, intuitive, and customised hearing experience.
It also emulates the way the brain naturally processes sound, the hearing aid manufacturer said.
Oticon Intent is the company’s smallest and most discreet rechargeable hearing aid to date. It offers 360 degrees of sound while considering each user’s unique listening needs.
Oticon said that this can give wearers spatial awareness to aid in navigating their surroundings and finding conversation partners.
Additionally, the hearing aid concentrates on the speaker amidst background noise to facilitate private one-on-one conversations.
Oticon audiology head Virginia Ramachandran said: “With Oticon Intent, we’ve enhanced our BrainHearing approach to give wearers greater access to the sounds and speech that will enable them to actively participate in everyday situations.
“Our new sensor technology allows the device to understand the wearer’s listening intentions and adapt in real time, providing unparalleled support and clarity in every conversation. With Oticon Intent, we ensure you can more easily communicate in any situation.”
Using a second-generation Deep Neural Network (DNN), Oticon Intent enhances speech comprehension, listening comfort, and sound quality while providing additional subtleties and speech accessibility.
Oticon Intent prioritises comfort and design for the user and has a battery life of up to 20 hours and requires less time to charge than ever before, the hearing aid firm claimed.
The aid uses Bluetooth LE Audio 2.0 to easily connect to a variety of devices and add-ons for direct music and audiobook streaming, hands-free calling, and other uses.
It is also a future-proof hearing aid, compatible with Auracast and other advanced communication technologies, Oticon claimed.
Furthermore, the device is compatible with the Oticon Companion app so that users can control their hearing experience from their smartphone or Apple Watch.
