OrthoScan, a developer of orthopedic medical devices, has launched a new version of its Mini C-Arm product with flat detector at the Annual Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) meeting in New Orleans. The new Mini C-Arm with flat detector joins the HD Mini C-Arm in the expanded product line offered by OrthoScan.

The addition of the flat detector allows greater image quality and lower dose with an enhanced form factor. Flat detector technology, while available for several years, has not been previously integrated with a Mini C-Arm.

The product launch follows on the heels of news from OrthoScan of a new round of financing. Participants in the investment were California Technology Ventures, River Cities Capital Funds and Aphelion Capital. Proceeds from the financing will be used to support ongoing development efforts.

Rob Morocco, chief executive officer of OrthoScan, said: “We continue to set new standards in Mini C Arm imaging by offering the first Mini C-Arm equipped with a flat detector. We are pleased to offer our customers the technological benefits inherent in flat detector design such as improved image quality and lower dose.”

Carter McNabb of River Cities Capital Funds, said: “We are pleased to support OrthoScan’s continued product development efforts and strengthening of its leadership position in the Mini C-Arm market.”
