Orthofix International has announced the international launch of its external hexapod ring-type fixator, designed to correct orthopedic deformities and treat complex trauma.

The multi-planar TrueLok Hexapod (TL-HEX) system associated with a software, was co-developed with the company’s partner, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Orthofix International president and chief executive officer Robert Vaters said, "With our partners at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, we stay committed to the research and development of future ground breaking external fixation technology."

The company is planning to launch TrueLok Hexapod system during the fourth quarter 2012 in certain international markets.

Prior to the launch, the multi-planar system is on display at the annual meetings of the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Rome, Italy and the French Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in Paris, France, which are being held this week.
