Ortho Clinical Diagnostics has received CE mark approval for its Ortho Connect V2.0 middleware software solution.

Ortho Connect is a comprehensive, integrated and customizable intermediary software that streamlines laboratory operations, enabling lab professionals to manage multiple instruments from a single console and determine rules as per the specific needs.

The software also allows Ortho Vision and Ortho Vision Max immunohematology analyzers, which test blood for transfusion compatibility, for connecting to hospital’s laboratory information systems (LIS) to exchange data and simplify processes.

Ortho Connect offers labs with customizable middleware, which enables them to automate results validation and quality-check testing requirements,

It will also help to simplify processes such as data management and regulatory requirements, which laboratory information systems (LIS) cannot perform alone.

Ortho Connect will enable labs to select from more than 40 rules to meet their specific demands. Its pre-process rules can automatically carry out specific tests, while post-processing reflex testing can be determined to deliver required results.

According to the company, Ortho Connect works with its integrated and scalable suite of products developed for immunohematology labs.

Ortho Clinical Diagnostics COO Robert Yates said: "Ortho is focused on diminishing the complexities of immunohematology testing while improving safety, speed and efficiency throughout the blood bank.

"ORTHO CONNECT does just that, bringing improved functionality to Laboratory Information Systems that are often relatively rigid and outdated. It's the perfect complement to our ORTHO VISION family of analyzers."
