OpGen, a provider of genomic and DNA analysis systems, has introduced a software module - Genome-Builder.

Genome-Builder provides new capabilities for precision sequence assembly and reduces the time required for human, animal and plant genome sequence assembly.

OpGen CSO Richard Moore said Genome-Builder expands the functionality of their Argus Whole Genome Mapping System and provides a technology advancement for human genetics research that could lead to detect clinically important rearrangements missed by current sequencing and array CGH approaches.

"Using whole genome maps through Genome-Builder provides an ordered visual map of the genomic architecture that will allow the detection of structural rearrangements," Moore said.

"This capability can further help researchers identify important structural changes linked to a broad range of genetic diseases".
