Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis hospital based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, will deploy an IT solution from Sectra to enhance its radiology services.

Sectra says that the hospital will deploy its solution for handling and archiving radiology images (PACS), which will help the facility to gain transparent and secure access to images and patient information throughout the patient care pathway.

Sectra Benelux managing director Peter Osinga said: "Radiology IT is truly mission critical and patient outcome depends on system availability and workflow.

"Our market-leading position confirms that we meet our customer’s requirements in terms of stable solutions with the functionality, performance and connected services required for them to provide high-quality and safe care."

Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis hospital is set to merge with Sint Lucas Andreas Ziekenhuis this year, and the combined number of radiology examinations performed by them in a year easily equates to more than 300,000.

The hospital says that Sectra’s solution will make it easier for the medical personnel to share patient information and radiology images, leading to efficient utilisation of resources.

Radiology examinations are a critical part of the diagnosis and treatment process as most patients go through it, making it very important for the information to be shared rapidly and efficiently.
