Medical technology firm Olympus has introduced new CleverCut3V Distal Wireguided sphincterotome (CleverCut3V DW), which enhances safety and efficiency through advanced technology such CleverCut coating.

CleverCut coating insulates the proximal portion of the cutting wire, allowing to prevent tissue damage and associated complications such as perforation.

The company is making the single-use device available in several configurations, including with the VisiGlide guidewire preloaded or with VisiGlide sold separately.

Olympus Corporation of the Americas’ Medical Systems Group’s sales, marketing and shared services executive vice president Richard Reynolds said: "The shift in endoscopy from diagnosis-only to include increasingly more therapeutic measures is an exciting opportunity for endoscopists."

The CleverCut3V DW features an advanced c-channel specially designed for the VisiGlide line of guidewires and an intuitive guidewire insertion port.

It also includes safety features such as CleverCut coating on the proximal end of the cutting wire and optimal knife orientation, which will help in protecting surrounding tissue while providing effective sphincterotomy.

In addition, the device features a refined 3.9 Fr tapered tip that offers smooth insertion during difficult cannulations resulting from strictures or when accessing the minor papilla.

Based on preference, technique and anatomical requirements, the integrated VisiGlide line of guidewires provides the endoscopist with the right wire for all situations.

The firm will exhibit the CleverCut3V DW at the Annual Conference of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) in Honolulu, Hawaii, which will be held from 16 to 21 October.
