Disposable medical kits maker Novomed has acquired medical devices distributor Mediq France for an undisclosed sum.

Novomed acquired 100% shares of Mediq France from Dutch company Mediq, which provides medical devices, pharmaceuticals and associated services.

The acquisition will allow Novomed to expand its presence in the medical materials market, in addition to its ability in digital offerings to the customers.

It will also help to provide more product solutions in the general and specialist practitioners segments.

Mediq offers medical solutions in various areas, including continence, diabetes, infusion therapy, medical nutrition, ostomy, wound care and others.

Mediq France management will continue to offer services, even after the merger of both firms into one group.

Novomed Group CEO Hervé Liebermann said: “There's an obvious complementarity between our Companies that this strategic acquisition provides: complementarity between Novomed's production & sourcing expertise and Mediq's mastery of online distribution on the one hand, and complementarity between our clienteles (hospitals and independent practitioners) on the other.

Mediq France CEO Aurélie Descubes said: "Mediq France has succeeded in implementing major changes in its organization to address our customers' needs more efficiently. Our joining up with Novomed Group gives us the opportunity to move forward.”

Founded in 1993, Novomed Group is engaged in the development, manufacturing and distribution of disposable medical kits, which can be used for the treatment of healthcare-associated or hospital-acquired infections.

Medis also operates in other countries such as the US, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Switzerland, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
