The company has developed the new device for people with diabetes to test blood glucose and deliver data wirelessly to a smartphone.

Nipro Diagnostics CEO and president Scott Verner said: "Our new True Metrix Air self-monitoring blood glucose system is technology with reach.

"Nipro Diagnostics’ customers have a better way to deliver superior health and wellness products that empower people with diabetes and their health support network to make better decisions for a healthier life."

The device uses the firm’s True Metrix test strips featuring Triple Sense Technology, which detects, analyzes and corrects for environmental and physiological variability, including hematocrit and temperature.

Nipro plans to make the product commercially available for the customers in the second quarter of this year.

The company also manufactures and distributes supplemental health and wellness products such as sharps, neutraceuticals, personal care products, and dietary supplements.
