Nipro Diagnostics has entered into an agreement to integrate its TRUEresult blood glucose monitoring system into NextGen Healthcare Information Systems' Ambulatory electronic health record (EHR).

The integration will help NextGen Ambulatory EHR users’ to access data points captured by patients at home who are using the TRUEresult system alongside eliminating the need to manually re-enter patient data.

Nipro Diagnostics spokesperson Teri Sasse said this integration will allow professionals to use a single program to streamline access to blood glucose readings from its TRUEresult system.

"This important data can be more quickly and easily analyzed and used to provide feedback to patients to improve their diabetes management and overall health," Sasse added.

NextGen Healthcare president Scott Decker said home monitoring will become even more important as healthcare providers move toward Patient-Centered Medical Home and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) models.

"Seamlessly integrating data directly from a patient’s meter into NextGen Healthcare’s Ambulatory EHR provides physicians with the necessary tools to better manage the health of their patients with chronic disease while also affording them the ability to reduce hospitalizations and improve quality of life," Decker added.
