NEC Display Solutions of America, a provider of desktop LCD monitors and displays, has received the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) approval for its 21.3-inch MultiSync MD215MG medical diagnostic display.

The 5-megapixel diagnostic display aids hospitals, doctor offices, urgent care centers and other healthcare facilities to view digital mammography images for diagnosis by trained physicians.

The display is calibrated with the Dicom grayscale function for luminance and includes a front sensor which maintain brightness and an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display’s brightness based on existing lighting conditions.

NEC Display Solutions Professional Desktop and Medical Displays product manager Art Marshall said the MD215MG is designed specifically with healthcare professionals in mind and offers reliable screen performance with functional technologies that are required to be productive in digital mammography.
