US-based Molex has added a new MediSpec non-magnetic radio frequency (RF) contacts and modules product family to its existing line of RF/Microwave interconnect solutions.

The new RF non-magnetic contacts and modules are developed to address the needs of medical device manufacturers, specifically magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment manufacturers.

The new products include MMCX Single Plug & Receptacle, MMCX Module of 6 PCB Plugs & Receptacles, SSMCX Module of 8 PCB Plugs & Right Angle Receptacles, SSMCX Module of 8 for RG178 cable and Cable Assemblies for the series.

Molex product manager Darren Schauer said: "Molex developed the non-magnetic versions to support the requirements of the medical imaging marketplace.

"In the medical imaging field, interconnects made with ferrous materials can create interference problems that degrade image quality. Our affordable, high performing, non-ferrous versions actually enhance image quality and granularity, rendering scans and images more readable and accurate."

The company will exhibit the new product portfolio at MD&M West in Anaheim, California, which will take place from 10 to 12 February.
