Koch Industries' indirect subsidiary Molex has acquired Ireland-based ProTek Medical, for an undisclosed sum.

ProTek Medical is specialised in supplying custom solutions for medical device manufacturers in the global medical industry.

Molex business development and corporate strategy senior vice-president Tim Ruff said: "This strategic acquisition broadens the scope of our integrated medical solution offerings and significantly strengthens our medical device design, manufacturing, and test capabilities."

ProTek Medical founder and CEO Frank Boyle said: "The acquisition presents new opportunities to achieve faster growth by expanding into new regions and healthcare market segments."

The acquired business will continue to be operated as a subsidiary of Molex Ireland, which will expand the firm’s medical footprint in the country.

Established in 1995, ProTek Medical includes a diverse portfolio that can be used in applications such as cardiac rhythm management components, infusion finished devices and vascular delivery devices.
