Misonix, a developer of ultrasonic medical device technology used for acute health conditions, has entered into a new, 3-year group purchasing organization (GPO) agreement with First Choice Cooperative (FCC) for SonaStar and SonicOne systems.

Under the terms of the agreement, Misonix will offer FCC members the exclusive opportunity to purchase the SonaStar Ultrasonic Surgical Aspiration System and the SonicOne Ultrasonic Wound Care System, with no similar featured competitive technology available in the market.

The SonaStar is used by neuro and general surgeons for removal of both hard and soft tumors while sparing most vessels.

In addition, OsteoSculpt bone sculpting technology can be employed with the SonaStar to remove osseous structures, thus providing access to the surgical site.

The SonicOne is an ultrasonic wound care system that offers tissue specific debridement and cleansing for effective removal of devitalized tissue and fibrin deposits while preserving surrounding healthy tissue.

Misonix president and chief executive officer Michael McManus said that they are extremely pleased that FCC has added two core Misonix products to the portfolio offered to their buying group.

Headquartered in Tyler, Texas, FCC has 635 Acute Care and Clinic members located throughout the US, with a concentration in the Southwest.
