Medtronic, Inc. (Medtronic), is planning to complete the clinical trial entitled “Endurant Stent Graft System US Clinical Study” for the product Endurant Stent Graft System by March 2016. The purpose of the trial is to demonstrate safety and effectiveness of the Endurant Stent Graft in the treatment of Abdominal Aortic or Aorto-iliac Aneurysms.
The prospective, two-arm, non-randomized, open label, multi-center clinical trial is currently recruiting with an estimation of 194 participants. The principal investigator is Michel S Makaroun, MD from Division of vascular surgery university of pittsburgh medical center.
Endurant is a graft deployment system to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms. This self expanding and suprarenal system is intended to enable accuracy, control and simple deployment, while providing high conformability to the vessel wall. It can be placed in the aorta to exclude the weakened part of the artery wall and restore blood flow. Stent material is of Nitinol and woven polyester.
