US-based Medtronic has introduced new KYPHON Express II Balloon Kyphoplasty platform to treat patients with spinal fractures.

Kyphon

The new platform, which includes KYPHON Cement Delivery System (CDS), will be used in the treatment of vertebral compression fractures.

The KYPHON CDS has been developed to increase the efficiency and precision of delivering bone cement into a vertebral body.

The system features Quick Release Button, which helps in halting the flow of bone cement on demand, allowing the physician precise control over the amount of cement flow.

KYPHON Balloon Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, which was developed to treat vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) caused by osteoporosis, cancer or benign lesions.

The company has added new KYPHON Express II Inflatable Bone Tamp to the portfolio, which already includes KYPHON Express, KYPHON Xpander and KYPHON Xpander II.

Medtronic Spinal president Doug King said: "Interventional physicians treating vertebral compression fractures now have more options with our BKP procedure."

"KYPHON Express(TM) II and the next-generation CDS reinforce Medtronic’s commitment to continuously innovating to empower physicians to deliver the best clinical outcomes to their patients."
