Medtronic has launched new minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) products in the US through the distribution agreement with Miami Instruments.

The products includes Joseph Lamelas Knot Pusher which simplifies the delivery and tying of secure suture knots in the heart during MICS procedures and the Joseph Lamelas Atrial Lift System used to retract the atrial wall during limited-access cardiac surgical procedures.

Medtronic senior vice president and Structural Heart business president John Liddicoat said this agreement will allow them to continue providing physicians with the most innovative minimally invasive heart valve replacement and repair technologies.

Miami Instruments founder and Mount Sinai Medical Center cardiac surgery chief and cardiac surgeon Joseph Lamelas said this new collaboration with Medtronic will enable cardiac surgeons to use their advanced surgical instruments during these complex but highly beneficial procedures.

Oother Miami Instruments products which are in development include disposable and single-use devices.
