The medical device allows the pre-filled storage of the powder component and secure transfer of the liquid.

Main target of the product development was the reduction of preparation steps in the operating theatre and thus the duration of surgery.

MEDMIX said the integrated medical device allows for a simple mixing method with minimal risk of contamination.

Managing director Andreas Kees said the orthopedic device can be used either to prepare powder/liquid based bone cements or to prepare any kind of medical two-component pastes or gels.

MEDMIX Technology director Andy Greter said the dispensing process with the spindle drive leads to continuous flow of mixed material.

"Pulling back the piston stops the material flow immediately. The delivery device can be used for high pressure application also," Greter said.
