US-based healthcare company Medline has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the global surgical solutions business of Ecolab, including its Microtek family of products.
Ecolab develops and provides services, technology, and solutions for water, hygiene, and infection prevention to protect people and resources crucial for life.
The company’s surgical solutions business offers surgical equipment drapes, patient temperature management, and surgical room turnover equipment.
The proposed transaction is expected to close in the second half of this year, subject to standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
Upon closing, Medline will obtain sterile drape solutions for surgeons, patients, and operating room equipment, along with Ecolab’s fluid temperature management system.
Medline president and chief operating officer Jim Pigott said: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to acquire a leading portfolio of operating room products with such a strong reputation for protecting patients and healthcare workers.

Medline intends to expand the deep legacy of the Microtek brand, using its extensive commercial footprint, supply chain capabilities, and manufacturing expertise.
Also, the acquisition provides the company with an opportunity to add design and development capabilities to the combined portfolio to support OEM customers.
With the new capabilities, Medline is enabled to provide complementary products to protect both patients and advanced equipment in the surgical suites.
