Medline has opened a 250,000ft² manufacturing facility in the Killam Industrial Park in Laredo, Texas, expanding its footprint in the state to more than 1.5 million ft² of production and distribution space.

Local officials and many of the company’s new employees gathered earlier today to commemorate the opening of the facility.

The Laredo plant is one of four Medline facilities in North America that specializes in manufacturing custom surgical procedure trays that enable hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to optimize operating room inventory, improve efficiency and drive improved patient outcomes.

Medline Laredo facility operations vice president Joaquin Nacher said: “As demand for Medline’s products and solutions grow, it created an opportunity for our company to expand in the local market. Laredo is a great community and we are excited to establish a presence here.

“As a prominent employer in community, we are dedicated to creating quality jobs for local residents who want to help improve people’s lives and contribute to Medline’s continued growth.”

With existing state-of-the-art distribution centers in Katy and Wilmer, Medline has built trusted relationships with Texas hospitals, physicians, home health agencies, nursing homes and durable medical equipment providers.

“Medline’s investment to the community of Laredo is more than the hundreds of jobs created by this new facility or the amount of capital already invested; this venture signifies the beginning of Laredo’s potential to attract companies of this caliber to our city,” says Miguel Conchas, president and chief executive officer of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce.

“We believe that Medline’s commitment to our community will spark similar engagement from other manufacturers to bring their business to Laredo.”

Medline is a global manufacturer and distributor serving the health care industry with medical supplies and clinical solutions that help customers achieve both clinical and financial success.
