US-based Medline Industries has announced the acquisition of anterior cervical fusion distraction pin business from Amendia, a provider of Class II and Class III medical devices used in spinal surgical procedures.

As per the agreement, Medline will acquire the design and regulatory pathway for its anterior cervical fusion distraction pin from Amendia.

The new agreement for distraction pin business expands Medline’s capabilities for spinal surgical procedures.

Medline, with the addition of the distraction pin, now offers a comprehensive offering of surgical instruments for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedures, including a full line of retraction and distraction instruments, a wide array of sizes and styles of Kerrison Rongeurs and surgical procedure packs.

Medline operating room division president Rob Lockwood noted the company is expanding its product portfolio to meet all of its customers’ needs across the continuum of care.

"Now that we will be offering our own distraction pins, surgical instruments and other necessary medical and surgical supplies, we have everything a facility needs to help provide the best care and patient outcomes," Lockwood added.
