Millennium Dental Technologies (MDT), a provider of patented Laser-assisted new attachment procedure (LANAP) protocol for the treatment of gum disease, has received Conformite Europeenne (CE) certification for its PerioLase MVP-7.

The MDT PerioLase MVP-7 is a 6-watt free-running variable pulsed neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG) dental laser featuring digital technology and seven pulse durations.

MDT said that the CE marking certifies that the product has met European Union (EU) health and safety standards and is approved for sale within EU countries and members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

The PerioLase MVP-7 digital dental laser’s conformity assessment, essential for earning CE marking, was completed by Intertek Product Testing, the largest independent testing, inspection and certification partner. Intertek evaluated the PerioLase MVP-7 for electrical safety, design, manufacturing processes and performance, then provided the comprehensive results for review to the notified body, the England-based AMTAC Certification Services.

Delwin McCarthy, chief technology officer of MDT and vice president of The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, said: “It is an honor to receive this CE marking, which reinforces the high quality of the PerioLase MVP-7 and opens the door for introducing the LANAP protocol in the EU and other markets. This CE marking will allow us to accomplish this mission by strengthening our ability to penetrate European markets.”
