Reportedly, the agreement will become effective on January 1, 2010, and runs through December 31, 2012.

Maquet Cardiovascular’s cardiopulmonary products are used in on-pump cardiac surgery and include heart-lung machines, the Quadrox-i family of generators, the Rotaflow Centrifugal Pump, the MECC (Minimised Extracorporeal Circulation) System, the Plegiox Cardioplegia Heat Exchanger, standard or customised tubing packs and a full line of adult, pediatric and ECMO cannulae.

Raoul Quintero, president of Maquet Cardiovascular US Sales, said: “This agreement represents an important milestone for Maquet Cardiovascular as it is our first GPO contract for cardiopulmonary products in the US and underscores the value of our products to surgeons and perfusionists. We are committed to supporting positive patient outcomes and are pleased that members will now have access to our full range of perfusion products, as well as our surgical devices for beating heart cardiac surgery and our market-leading Vasoview Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) Systems through two contracts we signed with Novation previously.”

Scott Crandall, senior director of contract services cardiology at Novation, said: “Novation continues to provide members of VHA, UHC and Provista with the most advanced technology, best customer service and preferred pricing. We found that Maquet Cardiovascular’s cardiopulmonary product portfolio met the requirements of our rigorous contracting review process. We are pleased that this is the third agreement we have signed this year with Maquet Cardiovascular.”
