Linde Healthcare has introduced a therapeutic oxygen cylinder in the US to improve patient safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The LIV IQ package includes a valve with an integrated pressure regulator, flow selector, flow outlet, pressure outlet and digital display.

It is also installed with several visible and audible alerts, which enables to increase patient safety in mobile oxygen therapy.

The new cylinder will eliminate the guesswork in determining how long the cylinder will work, as well as automatically calculates the remaining time from the actual gas content of the cylinder.

Linde’s LIV IQ package enables users to monitor the information from any computer or web enabled device.

The package also helps hospital’s supply chain staff to avoid physically inspect each cylinder for amount of product.

Linde Healthcare product management specialist Jake Masters said: “The LIV IQ package is a completely new generation of oxygen cylinder.

“The technology provides an instant display of the time remaining of oxygen in the cylinder, which removes uncertainty on the part of healthcare practitioners. It gives them peace of mind and more time to focus on patient care.”

Linde Healthcare collaborated with Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the LIV IQ cylinder in a large hospital environment. The hospital is located in Jackson of Michigan.

Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital contract sourcing specialist Melissa Owen said: "Prior to having LIV IQ, our staff was making avoidable oxygen rounds.

“Now, they can easily check real time contents on the LIV IQ Web App, eliminating unnecessary tasks and maximizing efficiency.”
