Leesburg Regional Medical Center has sucessfully performed two transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) procedures in Central Florida.

The procedure was done to patients suffering from severe, symptomatic native aortic valve stenosis and who were confirmed to be inoperable for open aortic valve replacement.

Leesburg Regional cardiac surgeon Tim Moore said they replaced the patients’ heart valve without opening the chest by inserting the new valve through the femoral artery directly into the heart through a small incision in the leg and both procedures went well.

Leesburg Regional Medical Center is a 322-bed acute care hospital and along with Alliance First Care and Alliance Labs provides cardiovascular, neurosurgical and orthopedic care services.
