Manny Villafana, Chairman and CEO of Kips Bay Medical announced that on January 14, 2014, the first commercial implant of the Company's eSVS Mesh in Austria was performed at the Medical University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria.

This implant was performed under the direction of Professor Dr. Günther Laufer. The presiding surgeon in the case, Professor Dr. Sigrid Sandner, commented that the eSVS Mesh was easily deployed with no complications.

Mr. Villafaña added, "We are excited to have the Medical University of Vienna join the growing number of international institutions that recognize the potential value of eSVS technology for their patients. We look forward to seeing CABG patients benefit from external vein support throughout Austria."

The eSVS Mesh is designed to be fitted like a sleeve on the outside of saphenous vein grafts to strengthen SVGs used in coronary artery bypass graft surgery. By strengthening the SVG and preventing the damaging expansion of the vein graft, the Company hopes to reduce or prevent the resulting injury which can lead to SVG failure and potentially costly and complicated re-interventions for patients undergoing CABG surgery.
