Kettering will use Riverain Medical’s SoftView technology in coordination with existing digital chest X-rays to aid radiologists in identifying lung nodules that could potentially be lung cancer.
SoftView is designed to suppress ribs and clavicles on chest X-rays, creating a soft tissue image for every chest X-ray and it requires no additional radiation dose or patient procedure and aids radiologists in the detection of lung nodules.
In addition, the technology is installed across Kettering Medical Center’s network, so no additional hardware or stand-alone workstations are required to integrate the technology into any of the Center’s radiology departments.
Kettering Health Network director of Medical Imaging Merle Peterson said Riverain Medical’s technology provides their radiologists a clear and enhanced image that results in a more effective evaluation of a patient’s chest X-ray.
"Kettering radiologists have worked with Riverain Medical researchers on multiple projects over the past few years, so we’re excited to now offer all our radiologists and physicians access to this breakthrough technology," Peterson said.
Riverain Medical chief technology officer Steve Worrell said that SoftView allows radiologists to better visualize the soft tissue in a chest X-ray image, thereby improving the odds of early detection of disease. With this latest advance in technology, Kettering will strengthen its role in the Dayton market by delivering superior technology for chest X-rays.
