K2M, a developer of minimally invasive surgical devices, has introduced a pedicle screw system - Everest Degenerative Spinal System.

The Everest System can accommodate 5.5 and 6.0 mm diameter-based titanium and cobalt chrome rods, and a screw thread pitch designed to maximize both osteoporotic and dense bone fixation.

It also features a mixed material housing meant to minimize head splay as well as improve the biomechanical performance of the construct.

The modified square thread of the locking set screw improves the fixation characteristics and reduces the potential for cross-threading.

K2M president and CEO Eric Major said the set screw based Everest Degenerative Spinal System provides surgeons with flexibility to address patient needs.
