The Kick system, which includes FluoroExpress software module, allows intraoperative viewing of instrumentation and implants relative to patient anatomy to permit proper pedicle screw placement.
DePuy Synthes has collaborated with Brainlab to expand access to advanced visualization through the Kick system.
Featuring a small, portable infrared camera with a computer and monitor, the system will move between operating rooms and works together with existing X-ray equipment to support surgical workflow.
The Kick system is compatible with the Viper system and Expedium spine system of implants, helping to improve visualization during minimally invasive and open procedures for treating a wide range of spinal disorders.
The company is showcasing the system at the North American Society Spine Meeting (NASS) in Boston, which is being held from 26 to 29 October.
DePuy Synthes Spine platform leader Dan Wildman said: “Building on our commitment to enabling technologies, the KICK System enhances less invasive surgery for the clinician who may not have access to expensive 3D imaging systems, but recognizes the need for advanced imaging to support a successful fusion procedure and help improve patient outcomes.
“Through solutions such as the Kick system, we are improving access to care and creating and delivering clinical and economic value to healthcare systems worldwide.”
