Inverness Medical Innovations, a global provider of improving health at home rapid diagnostics and health management, has changed its name to Alere, after the shareholders have approved the name change at its Annual Meeting of Stockholders held on July 14, 2010.

Inverness Medical has earlier filed a preliminary proxy statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission including a proposal to change its name, as well as other proposals, and has filed a definitive proxy statement on June 4, 2010.

Headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, Alere (Inverness Medical Innovations) develops new capabilities in near-patient diagnosis, monitoring and health management.
