Immunomedics' new protein imaging labeling method - fluorine-18 (F-18) - has received Thomas Alva Edison patent award from Research & Development Council of New Jersey.

TheF-18 is a 1-step kit method used for labeling peptides, proteins and other molecules within 20 minutes.

Immunomedics president and CEO Cynthia Sullivan said they plan to introduce this new methodology into clinical trials of patients with breast, colorectal, and other major cancers.

"They are very enthusiastic with regard to the prospects of offering earlier and better cancer imaging methods to be used alongside novel therapeutics," Sullivan said.
