ICU Medical is set to introduce a minimally invasive hemodynamic monitoring sensor system which provides real-time assessment of hemodynamic and cardiovascular status.

The system, CardioFlo, provides accurate and reliable hemodynamic monitoring data, when combined with the company’s existing arterial catheter and connected to an Edwards Lifesciences Vigileo monitor, designed for monitoring cardiac output continuously.

The combined system will also provide average of 40% cost savings when compared to the Edwards ‘ FloTrac sensor, claims ICU Medical.

During clinical testing, ICU Medical’s CardioFlo provided hemodynamic data with one percent higher efficiency compared to Edwards’s FloTrac.

In addition, CardioFlo comes with a SafeSet closed blood sampling system, which allows clinicians to reduce blood discard waste during diagnostic phlebotomy by reinfusing it to the patient.

CardioFlo will be unveiled at the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Critical Care Congress, which will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, US, from 19-23 January 2013.
