Volpara provides an easy to implement, objective volumetric assessment of breast tissue density.
Using digital images and information captured in every mammographic exam, the system applies an algorithm that converts the qualitative breast x-ray image into quantitative data that can then be analyzed by the radiologist to estimate breast density.
Volpara will be integrated into iCAD’s current version 7.2 software platform for SecondLook Digital, and will be available as an upgrade to current customers.
SecondLook Digital identifies and marks suspicious areas on a mammogram for the radiologist to review.
iCAD president and CEO Ken Ferry said by integrating Matakina’s breast density assessment tool with iCAD’s CAD systems, they can offer radiologists a more comprehensive objective measurement tool for breast density, which will help in the assessment of mammograms.
Matakina International Ltd is the wholly owned sales and marketing arm of Matakina Technology Limited of New Zealand.
iCAD, a provider of image analysis and workflow solutions, recently acquired Xoft, a developer of the Axxent eBx electronic brachytherapy system (eBx).
