Greater Houston Healthconnect has named James Langabeer as the new president and cheif executive officer (CEO).

Previously, Langabeer served as director of the University of Texas Health Science Center’s Emergency Research Center, where he led a large research center focused on quality improvement in healthcare for strokes, cardiovascular and emergency medicine.

At the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch, he also led various leadership positions.

For an information technology and consulting firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Langabeer served as an executive vice president, developing the firm, which was later purchased by Oracle.

Greater Houston Healthconnect president and CEO James Langabeer said integrating health information technology will streamline care, reduce duplication of services, and improve overall patient care – helping them tackle the most pressing problems in the region by providing better, more timely information.

" Healthconnect is collaborating with nearly all hospitals, physicians, and other stakeholders to catapult Houston to national prominence in this area," Langabeer said.

"I’m eager to lead Healthconnect in this next phase of its growth."

Greater Houston Healthconnect was previously known as Greater Houston Health Information Exchange.
