The European Union has granted CE mark to W. L. Gore & Associates' endovascular stent-graft with a new 35 mm trunk-ipsilateral leg and 36 mm aortic extender.
Inserted through a catheter-based delivery technique, the GORE EXCLUDER AAA Endoprosthesis’ new components are compatible with an 18 Fr GORE DrySeal Sheath.
The new components have the ability to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms in patients with an infrarenal aortic inner necks measuring 30 to 32 mm, while expanding the treatment range to 19-32 mm.
St Mary’s Hospital interventional radiologist consultant Mo Hamady said, "This new size allows more patients with large aortic neck diameters to benefit from endovascular treatment."
W. L. Gore & Associates aortic business leader Ryan Takeuchi said with the expansion, the company now offers a complete range of sizes to treat differing and larger anatomies with the preferred infrarenal placement.
"Our extended AAA sizing portfolio and innovative delivery solution simplifies the EVAR procedure for physicians and patients alike," Takeuchi added.
