Glenveigh Medical and UK based Monica Healthcare have entered into an agreement for exclusive distribution rights in the US as well as US territories and military bases for Monica Healthcare's AN24 wireless fetal monitoring system.

The system marketed under ‘Beacon by Monica’ name, is FDA cleared for use during labor and delivery and is available in US hospitals exclusively through Glenveigh and promoted by Glenveigh’s sales and distribution partner Norgenix Pharmaceuticals.

The Beacon by Monica is simple to use, beltless, requires no wires to connect to a display or printer and there is no need for the constant re-positioning of transducers which is required with current technology.

Glenveigh Medical founder, chairman and chief scientific officer David Adair said the Beacon by Monica is a break-though wireless device that monitors the fetal heart rate and uterine activity while allowing patients to ambulate without the usual nurse intervention.

The clinical trials also demonstrated that the device performs well in obese women where use of conventional technology can be challenging, Glenveigh Medical, Monica Healthcare said.
