Getinge Group and its subsidiary Maquet Cardiovascular have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Atrium Medical for $680m.

Atrium provides technologies for thoracic drainage, interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, chest trauma care, general surgery and radiology.

The acquisition allows Atrium to operate as an independent, self-contained business unit of Maquet Cardiovascular.

Maquet Cardiovascular president and CEO Christian Keller said the acquisition of Atrium is a strategic fit with its long-term business goals as Atrium’s product line complements Maquet Cardiovascular’s existing therapy options and provides additional solutions to its customers.

"We believe that this acquisition will leverage the scientific and technological advances across both organizations and enhance our ability to deliver solutions to our customers and patients," Keller said.
