Medical technology company GE Healthcare has introduced a new fixed and overhead tube suspension (OTS) digital X-ray system called Definium Tempo.
The new digital X-ray system serves as a personal assistant to radiologists and technologists to reduce workflow burdens and enables radiology departments to deliver enhanced patient care.
Designed to act as an in-room command centre, the Definium Tempo’s tube-mounted console delivers all the functionality required for patient selection, protocol selection, technique modification and positioning setup.
To enhance overall ergonomic operation for the technologist, features such as auto-positioning, auto-centering and auto-tracking, automate the positioning of system components, while automated workflows enable to begin an exam.
To minimise repeat and reject rates that can negatively impact day-to-day clinical operations, the Definium Tempo also consists of features to deliver consistent images and help reduce variability in patient positioning and image quality.
Facilitated by the live streaming video and 3D depth cameras, the Intelligent Workflow Suite integrates computer vision, video analytics and precision engineering to deliver a collection of workflow enhancement tools formed by combining the 3D video camera, computer vision and video analytics.
In addition, the Intelligent Workflow Suite consists of Position Assist, Technique Assist, and Patient Snapshot to eliminate image retakes and generate more consistent images to increase technologists’ productivity.
Additional features comprise Helix 2.1 Advanced Image Processing of quadruple resolution images delivered by FlashPad HD detectors.
The features help to produce images with enhanced anatomical detail and magnification at a low dose while simultaneously minimising electronic noise to enhance patient experience.
North Central Bronx Hospital radiologist Dr Orlando Ortiz said: “The Definium Tempo system has been an impressive addition to our department.
“As a radiologist, image quality is everything and these images are a definite upgrade. It’s also had an immediate impact and been well-received by all our staff members, because it’s simple to use – with minimal steps and clicks required.”
Recently, GE Healthcare has agreed to acquire global intraoperative imaging and surgical navigation company BK Medical for $1.45bn in cash.
