GE Healthcare has launched computed tomography (CT) image reconstruction technology 'Veo' in Canada.

The Model-based Iterative Reconstruction (MBIR) technique is applied with new modeling techniques that aid physicians to visualize anatomy and enable high CT image quality at lower dose.

Veo which is already available in Asia and Europe is now made available in Canada on the GE Discovery CT750 HD system.

Paul’s Hospital Providence Health Radiology head Jonathon Leipsic said Veo has the potential to push radiation dose lower across organ systems while reducing image noise and improving spatial resolution that would allow for more advanced imaging of small structures and assess heavily calcified arteries, which is an ongoing challenge in CT angiography.

GE Healthcare plans to conduct a multi-center study to investigate the improvements of Veo at lower dose levels.
