Fujifilm Medical Systems has begun shipping the recently FDA cleared FDR D-EVO flat panel detector, as reported at the 2010 American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) conference.

Fujifilm said that the FDR D-EVO is six pounds in weight, which is currently the lightest-weight 14″x17″ flat panel detector, and as a fast and efficient system, it uses secure connectivity to transmit images to the technologist’s workstation in three seconds with cycle times of only nine seconds.

The FDR D-EVO with Fujifilm’s patented Irradiation Side Sampling (ISS) technology, provides image detail and dose efficiency, producing x-rays with enhanced sharpness and reduced noise.

According to Fujifilm, as US installations of the product begin, radiology administrators and their departments will begin benefiting from the seamless transition to DR and the enhanced image quality provided by the detector.

Fujifilm imaging systems senior marketing manager Rob Fabrizio said that since the introduction of the FDR D-EVO at RSNA 2009 they have seen pre-release demand for the product and whether using the FDR D-EVO to convert from analog, or as a complement to a digital room, facilities will clearly benefit from the seamless transition to DR imaging.
