The new platform has been designed for clinical users, ranging from hospital settings to clinics in remote villages, to carry out ultrasound when and where it is needed.

Fujifilm Sonosite president and CEO Masayuki Higuchi said: "Fujifilm SonoSite delivers a powerful and valuable solution to the market with the launch of iViz.

"It is a revolutionary tool that reaches new levels of mobility, image performance, and connectivity."

Specifically designed for emerging point-of-care settings where there is need for a highly accessible and mobile solution, the iViz offers clinicians with access to patient vitals, online applications and learning resources.

The platform also incorporates with hospital IT and EMR systems to secure patient demographics and submit reports. It connects securely with cloud services for sharing studies with remote providers for near-time assessments.

The iViz, which features a high resolution seven-inch display touchscreen, includes Wi-Fi capabilities, Bluetooth connectivity and interface ports for USB, HDMI, and audio.

The system supports M-Mode and Color Velocity Doppler, in addition to high resolution 2D imaging.

It is available with a P21v phased array 5MHz transducer and features software technologies such as SonoHD2 Imaging Technology and SonoADAPT Tissue Optimization Technology.

In January 2014, Fujifilm SonoSite collaborated with medical vision solutions provider Vivid Medical to co-promote the VividTrac, an open access video intubation device that delivers a consistently high and reliable performance.
