The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted 510(k) approval to Synergetics' VersaVIT vitrectomy system for use during performing retinal surgeries.
Synergetics president and CEO David Hable said, "We believe that VersaVIT is a ‘game changer’ given its functionality, portability and competitive pricing relative to traditional vitrectomy systems."
The company’s CE mark application for VersaVIT system is awaiting and is currently under review.
Synergetics is involved in supplying precision surgical devices to the ophthalmic and neurosurgical markets.
The company’s products deliver various energy’s including laser energy, ultrasonic energy, radio frequency for electrosurgery as well as visible light energy for illumination, while performing less invasive surgeries.
